Merchants of fine medieval and fantasy garb
We started out back in the late '70's making medieval and fantasy garb for our friends to
wear at local Renaissance Faires, Reenactments, and Science Fiction conventions.
We've grown from that small hobby business making and selling enough garb/costumes
to be able to attends more events, into a full-time business.
The origin of our name Hobbitronics (hob-bi-tron-ics).
When we started, our owner and some friends that helped were all electronic technicians
in the Army. And our hobbies included costuming (and many other things...) and as a play on
words this 'Hobbi' turned business became known as Hobbitronics.
Don has been interested in the middle ages his whole life. In the Army he served three tours in Germany, and somewhere along the line he met other people with similar interests and became a member of the Society for Creative Anachronism (SCA).
Don's younger daughter, Kat is involved in everything that Hobbitronics does. Having grown up in the SCA, Katherine's taken the lead in running the day-to-day operations in the shop and selling at local fairs.
Don's elder daughter, Elena has a degree in theatrical design. Among other roles, she runs our Etsy store and designs all of the embroidery we use. She also sells embroidery designs on Etsy at Knotty Rose Designs.
As the one in charge of quality control, Arwen takes her job very seriously. She makes sure that the other members of the shop work to make the best garments possible, often lending a paw to help, or bring attention to details.
